CENIT has sent a message of thanks to all UK donors whose fundraising topped £10,000 this year.
The centre has received the funds and has confirmed that they will cover the salaries of locally employed teachers, as well as giving targeted support to some of Quito’s most vulnerable working children.
A huge thanks to all supporters.
From all at Sonrisa and CENIT, we’d like to say a massive well done to Jonny Wood for his Bath half marathon success, which raised hundreds of pounds for youngsters in Quito.

Jonny completed the 13-mile course in an impressive 1hr and 49 minutes – not bad for someone who claims running is “massively out of character”!
On behalf of the staff and children at the Centre For The Working Girl (CENIT) in Quito, Ecuador, the trustees of Sonrisa would like to extend a big thank you to all at BPL Global who have worked hard to send a very generous donation.

Sonrisa is a UK charity that fundraises on behalf of CENIT and sends over funds every year in a lump sum to reduce the costs involved in transferring money to Ecuador.
The funds we send over from UK donors are used largely to pay the salaries of the locally-employed teachers who work at CENIT, providing crucial educational opportunities for severely deprived children.
We would like BPL Global to know that their donation will make a major difference at CENIT – thank you.

The team at the Centre for the Working Girl (CENIT) in Ecuador have put together an encouraging magazine looking back at the many great achievements of 2010.
From street dental clinics for working children to the impressive products made by the leather workshops, it’s brilliant to see the many different parts of the organisation have so much success.
Here’s hoping we can make 2011 an even brighter year for those youngsters in Quito who most need a chance in life.
